“May the morning tell me of Your undying love for me…” Those were the words of King David. As I sit here in Poland I find those words meeting me as I rise this morning. My friends and family have just laid there head to rest across the pond, but here it’s 6am and the morning is speaking to me. The open window allows a brisk cold breeze to enter my room. Yet I sit in shorts warmed by the thoughts of His faithfulness and His undying love for me. I sit here and I remember Him who is my life.

To remember, as they know it on this side of the ocean, is the act of bringing the memory of the past and all of it’s effect and power into today and to relive that moment now. It’s not a journey down memory lane as if the mind must go “back there.” It’s more like “back there” becomes “right now” again and again. Jesus spoke to His disciples to take the bread and wine and while doing so, remember Him. His words were not locked in what we know as the past. For in the true act of remembrance those words would have to be present through all of the ages. This is a work of the Holy Spirit. Not an act of a determined mind. So today I remember Him. I allow He who is present to me to bring the work of Jesus into my “today.” I remember His undying love for me.
